Ted Kennedy Is Fighting For Life. And It Is Not A Bullet...

By

Just got the news that Senator Edward Kennedy was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor, specifically a glioma, an especially lethal type.

Senator was taken to the hospital after he suffered a seizure over the weekend, and the doctors  have discovered the tumor.

Some experts give Kennedy less than a year to live. He is the only surviving son of the most famous political family. He never pursued presidency, and this would allow him to die form a tumor, and not a bullet.

He is the Senate's second -longest serving member, he was re-elected in 2006 and is not up for re-election until 2012. 40 years in Senate...

I am sure that no matter how you feel about Edward Kennedy, he is one of the political figures, that everyone knows and remembers.

Bill - Thank you for the lesson. This will hopefully teach me not to make baseless conclusions. To my defense, I have been in the country since 1991, but I know better than anyone else, that this is not a defense.

I never heard about Marry Jo Kopechne, went to Wikipedia and read the story, a really shocking one.

Along with that I read that he went for presidency, you are absolutely right, I also read that if not for the scandal with Marry Jo Kopechne, he could be on the ticket in 1972.

I should have checked Wikipedia before writing.

Thank you for straightening me up.

I can't say that I admire 'ol Teddy, but I certainly wouldn't wish this on him (or anyone).  That family has seen it's share of tragedy, that's for certain.

Jon,

There is no problem, only being here since '91 is a lot better excuse than most of us have. I enjoy your point of view and verbiage. We take so much of our life for granted that we may well lose it to apathy and idolatry!

Bill

I disagree with Mr Kennedy on most political questions but I respect his years of public service as he was elected to the Senate 9 times.

He will come to his Judgement from a higher power for Mary Jo Kopechne and other sins - as we all will.

For now, I wish him comfort, the love of his family and the thanks of a grateful nation.

I hope Senator Kennedy uses whatever time God has left him in this world to reflect and repent.

Jon:

Teddy may soon pass on but the socialism that he promoted every day in his life as a politician will live on and we will all pay the price in higher taxes, bigger government, and eventually the financial ruin of this great nation.

Thanks Teddy for your legacy.

I was sorry to hear about Senator Kennedy. I know the problem personally (my mother died from it).

He will be the first of the brothers to die of natural causes.

My thoughts go out to his family.

Very strange, as I write this, Neil Boortz is opening up his show with a Kennedy monologue.

I wish his family well as they deal with this. I sincerely hope that Senator Kennedy does what we all get to do at some point- repent for our sins.

I do agree with Bill, Ted legacy is a very expensive one for us.

Jon I live in Massachusetts where Ted Kennedy has been a senator since the 60's. He's been a champion of the working class and been a respected member of the Senate since the 60's. The kennedy's have had more than their share of tragedy and death- both of his brothers JFK & RFK, his mother and JFK Jr. This is a time to be positive and remember his legacy. We all wish him well and to for our medical researchers to find a cure for others.

Mike Saunders- I think blaming Ted Kennedy for the financial ruin of our country is going a little far!

Ted Kennedy has been the great liberal lion of this country for a generation. His mane of white hair and gin blossom nose have replaced Tip O'Neil as the visage of the great Irish statesman. He has contributed much to the political process, most of it I don't agree with, but he has been there, has been a stalwart, has often stood by the working man even as he supported tax increases again and again.

He is a legend and his presence will be missed.

Politically I don't like him, personally I don't know him, but I hope he either makes it through his illness or that he doesn't suffer too much. Cancer is horrible and not an easy death.

Stephen White  - where did I blame Kennedy for the financial ruin of this country? I would like a retraction since there are people here who won't read all the comments to find you named the wrong person.

Sorry Mike Saunders, I apologize. You are correct. My mistake. I retract my statement. It should have been sent out to Bill Burress

Hi Jon,

I second many of the comments posted here.  I'm not a Kennedy fan, but I hate to see anyone suffer and go through what he will be facing.  My heart goes out to him.

Jon~ The Kennedy's have had more than their share of troubles on earth.  May God watch over Ted and be with him and his entire family in this difficult time and give them all the strength and make them even a stonger and closer family.  I don't care for some of the things in his past either, but who am I to judge?  "Judge not, lest ye be judged" Only God knows our intentions and our heart.

Ted Kennedy has given 43 years of public service to the Senate representing Massachusetts. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family during this difficult time.

Everybody,

I am a realtively recent immigrant, and I did not know much about Senator Kennedy. I was a bit concerned when I posted this that I would open the Pandora's box, and end up with hateful comments. You see, I do not have the idea how people behave in certain situations, how they react. I have a different cultural background.

I was happy that it did not happen.

Instead of responding individually, I posted It Is Not For Me To Judge.... It is my "Thank you" to all of you, who commented.
