I have been slacking lately! Complacency is becoming commonplace. Ok, perhaps that is not really the case, I feel like I have neglected my commitment to myself to be more present here on Activerain, actually I know I have. I am getting dialed back in. Oh sure I pop in every single day, but I rarely have time to read let alone write something other than the occasional comment.
So this is my first post of 2018, and looking back I had only a handful in 2017, yet every day I meet with agents and share the good news of what I have learned here on the rain. I point to agents I have followed for ten years and many of those I have met in the interim, I share stories of success and offer insights into where to go to get the most out of this amazing site. I am active, just not publicly and that
is okay, it is one of the great reasons I joined to begin with back in 2007.
Back then I had left a large brokerage to venture out on my own with my wife as my partner, the first thing I noticed was I missed the "water-cooler" conversations with all the other agents, but I did not miss the time that sucked form my business, so I searched the Internet for real estate blogging platforms and discovered this amazing place, a place where I could ask a question at 10PM and have a couple dozen answers the next morning when I awoke, this was exactly what I was looking for, talk about a time saver, and what a wonderful experience it has been meeting so many great people.
The past couple years I have accepted a new challenge, a challenge that has been an unbelievably perfect fit for me, I had managed a couple brokerages prior to my current position and I knew that is what I was meant to do, and although the previous brokerages were very good, something seemed to be missing. I accepted the position as employing broker on March 20th 2016 and we had a total of five agents, less than two years later we are at 95 and I may have been a little late in hiring front staff personal as I am in need of someone and in the interview stages right now, ironically, I realized during the interview stage that I am also the one that is going to have to train this new hire, wish I had thought of that 25 agents ago! Oh well, the one thing I can say is the busier I get, the more I seem to get done and the more I seem to be able to delegate which has always been difficult for me. No longer, I see the value and understand my yield per hour can be much greater when I delegate.
Ah it feels good to step back in and get this out there, I certainly miss the posts and the connections and daily interactions, but I love where things are headed.
