What's the best closing line you used or heard?

By
Home Builder with Sitterle Homes

I have been in the business for 14 years, and I have heard many closing lines some good some kind of cheesy! Here are a few and then I will tell you about the best line I ever heard. Some of the cheesy ones are as follows:

Let's go do the paperwork!

Let's take this home off the market!

Let's make this home yours!

I usually ask if they are ready to move forward, but usually it is something that just goes with the flow.

The best line was  by a collegue of mine who was working with an divorcee whose husband had left her for a young trophy wife. So, the divorcee picked out an inventory home, it was above the average you could find cheaper ones that were used.

So, the ex came in so he could approve the transaction, my friend explained all about the home the warranty etc. He said NO, because he wanted her to buy a resale that she liked because it was way cheaper. My friend looked put her hand on the man's arm and smiled sweetly and said so, " Who do you want her to call at 3:00 in am when some pipe or other had broken, you or Chris our warranty manager?"

He approved the deal and bought the home for his ex. Best closing line ever, why because she went with the flow but also thought quickly on her feet!

Love that line, only works in specific cases but right here it was wonderful.

Hi Yolanda... I just never, ever use any kinds of lines like that... they seem so phony and pushy. When my clients are ready to buy something they tell me themselves... I don't need to nudge them. But your story about the exes was classic!

Nina Hollander I agree but I work for a builder and if you were shopped and did not use the lines they told you, you could be fired. It is not like that at Sitterle!

Good morning Yolanda Cordova-Gilbert ,

I'm so glad that Kathy Streib featured this in her "Ah-Ha" moments for the week series! This is the best closing line I've heard of! Quick thinking and brought some realty to the situation!

Good morning, Yolanda Cordova-Gilbert that's a great close from your friend...

I was always a listing agent and mostly new construction....  I would say:

"this sale is not going to make me any richer or poorer than I already am, but the equity you'll gain here will certainly change your financial status."

I never thought about using a closing line because I just go with the flow. Chatting along. If buyers make buying noises, I might say, hey, looks to me like you want this house. Let's buy it. Whatever pops into my head and seems appropriate.

That's interesting - I've never heard of a soon-to-be EX buying a home for his wife.

As a stager....

I had a seller once who was being very difficult and rolling his eyes at every suggestion I made. It was a very very long 2 hour consultation and I had about had it by the end.

My closing line was "It is up to you how much of this advice to follow. The more you do, the sooner you can move on with your life."

He is one of only a couple of clients who didn't do much of anything I suggested. Eight months after it was listed, he lost the house to the bank.

I do like the fast thinking of that agent Yolanda, well done.

The client asked..."What do you think the sellers will accept?" My answer..."Let's write the offer and find out!"

Hi Yolanda Cordova-Gilbert. Your friends ability to think on her feet and making it happen is great. Whatever works is the best answer. I think most every situation will be different.

Thanks for sharing,
