A HANDY TIP to Organize Paint Colours

By
Home Stager with Hope Designs

How many paint cans do you have in your basement?

How many can you identify? Are they organized?

It always seems like a good idea to keep all of the colours you use in your home, but how can you tell which paint colour you used in each room?

A helpful tip for remembering which paint colour you used in each room is to write the colour number, which can be found on the bottom of the colour chip, on a piece of tape and place it on the back of the light switch plate in the corresponding room.

Also, make sure this number is also written on the paint can, or even tape the colour chip to the can.  In addition, on the right of the tag that the paint store attaches to the can, paint a small dot on this tag.

These tips can be used to help organize all of your paint, and for more piece of mind when decorating your house!

When disposing of unwanted paint cans remember to be environmentally friendly!

I especially love the idea of writing the information on the back of the switch plate!  Great idea!

I saw somewhere to save the paint sticks and write the info on them if you don't have any paint left or don't save the paint cans.  You can drill a small hole in them, put them on a string and hang them in the garage or basement.  You can write the paint info on the stick once the paint dries.

That's an excellent idea about the switchplates Lori.  I also like Maureen's suggestion about the paint sticks.
