May 10th was the Minnesota opener and my son Jamie came up and we fished the tournament that Big Sandy Lodge and resort had this year. We started off with a great breakfast and then hit the lake fishing my son caught the only fish that day in our boat and that was OK because we had just an Awesome time talking about life and what fishing had meant to both of us.
I grew up fishing with my father Mike Borden and he brought fishing into my life and my Grandpa and my Uncle Gene who is now passed on as well as my Grandpa O'Neil. The times and the stories and most of all the memories I have are deeply embedded into me. My son Jamie and his wife Cassie are going to have there first baby we found out that weekend of opener! I am very excited about being a Grandpa and my wife Leane is very excited about this too. I look forward to spending time on the lake with our new addition to the family.
