If you happen to find yourself in search of the type of place that would allow one to enjoy a little piece and quiet while forgetting that you are actually in just next to the hustle and bustle of the city, then I suggest you take a short drive from downtown Columbia across the Gervais Street Bridge to The Cayce West Columbia Riverwalk. This beautiful and serene green area allows visitors to cruise along well manicured path that snake their way along the Congaree River.
With excellent views of the River, The historic Gervais Street Bridge itself, and the Columbia city skyline in the background, it's easy to see how The Cayce West Columbia Riverwalk has become a favorite stopping point for locals and visitors alike. Whether you want o have a picnic at one of the picnic tables, take a leisurely stroll, go for a jog or run, or just sit at a park bench and breathe in the sights and sound of nature, this park has you covered.
The amphitheater etched into the entrance of the park plays host to many events throughout the year and allows for a unique outdoor environment to enjoy festivities. Anything from plays, concerts, and even the occasional political rally right here along side the river.
Fishing is also allowed along the riverwalk with a valid South Carolina fishing license and there are also restroom at the beginning of the park. So if you want a chance to get away, then you should get here.
The Cayce West Columbia Riverwalk in Columbia, SC is located just across the Gervais Street Bridge, the first left into West Columbia and honestly does not seem to have an official address. The park is open daily and is free for all visitors to enjoy.
