Buying a home produces anxiety from the get-go for a lot of homeowners.   It's relatively easy to get caught up in the drama of buying a home since we accumulate "stuff" during our lives and all of it has to be moved, to one place or another. 

 

It's also common to get caught up in the drama as a real estate professional, even though our goal is to stay neutral throughout the transaction.  That's also why it's surprising sometimes at the decisions made by home sellers. 

 

When we represent buyers who are looking to accomplish the perfect home purchase, we guide home buyers toward making good decisions that we feel will be successful.  A successful purchase includes negotiating price, terms and repairs in whole or in part to benefit a buyer.  

 

At the same time, home sellers are working to get their best price and terms.  Meeting in the middle is not always easy, but with a little guidance good outcomes can be achieved.  

 

But what if a seller responds entirely different than what a home buyer thinks is prudent?  We never know how a seller will respond, but normally common sense prevails. 

 

Managing expectations during this process is paramount.  Agents staying neutral and calm can guide clients down a path that produces the best results and eliminate the drama of a he said, she said.  

 

When looking for an agent, ask how they6 address areas of conflict in these situations.    Those answers will tell you a lot about their skillset.
