Our Yard is a Bird Nursery

 

Our yard is quickly becoming a bird nursery. It's that time of year, and we of course don't mind at all.

 

Some of the birds are well hidden, but some are more obvious, like Mom Hummingbird in the palm tree just outside our front door, about 10 feet up.

Mom Mourning  Dove has returned to the palm tree at the end of our front path by the steps, in plain site amidst the prickly branches. Guess she feels pretty protected! No palm tree trimming for a while.

It will be fun to see the young when they are visible, with more photos to follow if I can capture them!

Well you can't see the birds from inside, but I know our 2 cats would have a great time watching these birds. They certainly enjoying looking out the windows to the back yard.

Thanks Sheila Anderson  There's been a lot of hummer activity outside our front door so I figured there was a nest nearby. It wasn't hard to spot but she and the nest are well protected.

Great close-up photos, Jeff.  They are so beautiful.  I remember the year a papa and a mama bird built in one day a luxurious home in our mail box - the kind that attaches to the exterior wall near our front door.  Still amazes me how spectacular it was and I still wonder how they got all the nesting set up inside the box because the lid was certainly a bit large and heavy to lift.  I felt sad for them when we had to retrieve our mailbox.  Jeff they perched so proudly on that mailbox...like two sentry guards at attention.
