YouTube Thursdays - Community Videos!
Last week, we featured an example of a neighborhood video with a reusable (generic-agent) open and close. It makes it easier to produce a series of neighborhood videos without the need for an on-camera stand up for each one.
This week, YouTube Thursdays focuses the lens on Community videos.
These should be the meat and potatoes of your video library. Instead of featuring the areas where people buy a particular home, these videos showcase the charm of the downtown scene or shopping area, what’s happening in the area, year-round festivals and community gatherings, not to mention, specialty videos like a featured business, ice-cream shop, coffee shop, or library. This is going to showcase YOU as the local expert and ambassador.
Community videos should reflect all that is positive about the local lifestyle. Keep in mind the demographics of your niche - and target demographics. For example, we won’t be visiting the local tattoo parlor, or marijuana shops. Though it might work for another agent’s niche!
Remember, community videos highlight the culture and lifestyle of the area. As you consider what videos to produce for your community picture your target clients. Hopefully you know enough about them to answer these questions. If not, go back to the research stage.
Where do your ideal clients prefer to shop? For example, do they prefer boutiques to box stores? Feature those shops and businesses in your videos. Capture the lifestyle of the local shopping scene.
What do they like to do in their spare time? Fine Dining? Feature videos showcasing the best restaurants in your community. Hiking -kayaking? Feature local trails and waterways. Cultural leanings? Feature galleries, theater, etc.
Do they have children? If so, videos about schools and education and family events are a must. Grand-children? Feature events geared toward visiting children, things to do with kids, etc.
Do they garden? If so, plan on visiting nurseries and interview local master gardeners, highlight garden shows and events.
Would they be interested in a local winery? Local Beers? Events and spots for these topics are easy to find.
Would they shop at local Farmers Markets? If so, produce a series of seasonal videos and try to interview some of the sponsors, vendors, and shoppers.
Do they have problems or challenges? For example, aging parents. If so, feature videos addressing those challenges and seek local experts for advice and solutions.
Dog lovers? Cat lovers? Dog parks, great pet-walking trails, pet sitting services, great pet shops - you get the idea.
Here's an example a community video from four years ago. It's a visit to the Camas Farmers Market - did you spot our cameo appearance? This was before Nature As Neighbors and before Bernie joined me in the business.
