When you live the dual career engineer/real estate life that I do, the meaning of "vacation day" might be a bit different than it means for most people.
You think beaches, mountains, plane flights, and cruise ships. I think "good, I only have ONE job to do today!". And even that isn't always totally true since I'm one of those habitual email checkers even when I'm "off" work.
The good news is after almost 27 years of engineering work, I'm at 28 paid days off a year, plus another 11-12 holidays.
So today was one of those 28 days of "vacation"! Not really a sleep in leisurely kind of morning, but more of the typical weekday morning. Yes, I was off my engineering job, but there were still some reports to finalize that were due for release today. All done by 8:00.
Then off to list a home, so met the seller at 9, gone by 10 with the paperwork filled out and arrangements made for the photographer for Saturday. Go live in MLS on Monday.
Take a call from a buyer that the deal they planned to cancel last night is back on! Second day in a row I've had a deal that was dead in the morning come back to life before the end of day! Roller coaster!!
Stop at the post office and mail a gift for another agent that I know from the Rain.
Coordinate preapproval and meeting plans with a builder for one of my buyers. Move meeting from Saturday to Monday.
Renew my Kentucky MLS membership for another year. Well worth that 2nd state license, so far this year one new construction closed and another new construction to close in about 5 weeks. Spend $800, make $16,000. I'll take a 20x return on investment any day.
FINALLY order those new signs as part of the RE/MAX branding refresh. Nice promo discount!
Write and sign and forward a closing extension for some buyer (me) that is buying an acre from his neighbor. Who'd have expected just splitting off an acre of land could get so complicated between the surveyor and the county?
Discuss a possible change of approach between a builder/buyer and the sellers of two parcels of land.
Preps for a prelist appointment tomorrow.
Check the traffic stats on our Wordpress site.
Get showing feedback and provide to a seller.
Get showing instructions changed now that the tenant has moved out. Woooohooooo!!! It was NOT ideal before, so now buyers will actually see the HOME and not the STUFF.
And of course a blog post (almost done!!). And cats and dogs to feed and litter boxes to scoop. All that's just a mandatory part of any day that I'm not out of town :)
But I did manage to fit in a DVD late afternoon. After all, I do need some "vacation" in a vacation day! I'm not Batman or Superman, but I can watch 'em!
Okay, time for the evening feeding of our "zoo"! And tomorrow, back to the usual blogging stuff, a subdivision or new construction or something else likely to make the phone ring sometime between tomorrow and when I retire :)
