The Strength of Single Tasking

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty 0575737

FinishedIn real estate in our daily work and in accomplishing tasks in our personal life do not listen to advice that you are a Super Mom or great achiever by being this multi tasker. Granted multi tasking is to be lauded as a great juggler in busy lives. But there is superior focus on "picking" one thing at a time with priority and focus and going all out to get a check mark for yourself in that area. If it takes more time than one day allocate single tasking to an amount of time and return. PRACTICE single tasking a lot, and you will become a believer in its power. Mental concentration and clarity and above all

materialize, in shorter amounts of time. You stop being scatterbrained and wonder where did the day go?

Multitasking is a fallacy when it comes to productivity. Single tasking is for people who want to get things done!!

Another good point as usual Gary Woltal. There is "focus" in single tasking.

I have found that focusing on one thing at a time clears my to do list a lot faster.

Good afternoon Gary - I could not agree more.  Focus is the thing that separates high performers from others.

I disagree. Not everyone can multitask effectively or efficiently, yet, there are some who can, it just depends on the type of tasks they're doing. Time management and utilization for busy professionals require them to multitask daily and IMO their ability to get things done makes them unique and invaluable to their clients.

Congrats on the featured post, Gary.

Over the years, we were taught that multitasking was a good, admirable thing to be doing.  Yet, I have to agree with your post.   We get less done when we are not focused on any one thing.

So, I should try to follow your advise and focus on one thing at a time.   It will take practice though.

Gary - can't agree with you more. Multi-tasking is highly overrated. It is sometimes a necessity, but rarely a way to be at your best

Single is much better and productive over Multi. This concept took me 20 years to understand and appreciate.

I believe you have made a great observation. For years all the success books told us to focus and time block. Then we started encouraging multi-tasking.

There may be those who can multi-task, but at the moment I can not think of one person I know that is successful at it.

Great post.

Glad to see this featured, Gary. In our busy personal and business lives no doubt there is a lot to juggle and focus will be to our benefit.

Have a great weekend!

This blog title is catchy!  Sometimes we have to multi task but there is so much joy for me getting something crossed off my to do list. I am trying to get my youngest in college to do the same--she puts off everything till the last minute then stresses about it!

Dear Gary,

I can multi-task pretty well, but for things like writing up a listing or an offer, I prefer to single-task, so I do not miss anything important.

I have a deep dark secret.  It is that I've never been especially good at multi-tasking.  I always work best when focused on one thing, and go about efficiently getting it completed, and only then moving on to the next task.

Hello Gary, there is no way I could ever take you off my list of followers at AR. We go back so many years and I hope all is well my friend ...

Please stop by my latest post about reaching out to ActiveRain members that are following me at the AR network, your name showed up #248 on my list ;o)

Please not: The number order has nothing to do with who's my favorite, I am going from the first page of followers and I am on page 72 and there approx 12 members per page.
