The Alameda’s Farmer’s Market is open to the public Saturday, April 7, and Tuesday, April 12 mornings from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, rain or shine. All the fruits and vegetables are available at great prices. So good! Don’t miss the opportunity to shop for delectable fruits, vegetables, and flowers. The market is on Haight Avenue at Webster Street and is open rain or shine.

Alameda South Shore Center and Off the Grid food trucks will be at South Shore on Saturday, April 7, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm in the South Shore Center parking lot in front of Petco.
Join author, artist, poet and naturalist Obi Kaufmann talk about The California Field Atlas and her other works on Saturday, April 1 at 1:00 pm. Hear new stories of life on the trail and the process of creating the book at the Alameda Free Library, Main branch at 1550 Oak Street
Crab Cove for Family Nature Fun Hour for “Things That Fly” on Saturday, April 7 and Sunday, April 8, at 2:00 pm then see what is going on at the Visitor’s Center. Crab Cove is located at 1252 McKay Avenue. Please call 510-544-3187 for more information.

Attend a Pre-Code Hollywood Ball on Saturday, April 7, beginning at 7:00 pm sponsored by the Peers. Wear your 1930 costumes, vintage or evening dress to celebrate the movies before they were censored by the government. Doors open at 6:30 for vintage ballroom dance lessons. No partners required. Light refreshments, no-host bar. Tickets are $25 at the door at the Alameda Elks Lodge, 2255 Santa Clara Avenue. On Sunday, April 8 2 to 4 pm at the Main library hear Dr. Lynn Rothschild of NASA Ames Center discuss the questions, “Is There a Universal Biology?” Dr. Rothschild is an astrobiologist and synthetic biologist who will speak on how living organisms are constructed.
