Real Estate Agent with Wheeler Steffen Sotheby's Int. Realty DRE 01235311

This is the most beautiful time of the year ! The cold is almost over and the snow will melt. The sky will appear bluer, the trees a little greener and the flowers will begin to bloom. As we spring into action and our bodies become more motivated, we start our checklist and spring cleaning begins. This is the time of year when many homeowners prepare their homes for sale. We are through the Holidays and the cold and are more prepared to open our homes for showing. Getting your home ready doesn't have to be a daunting task. With a simple plan, whether you are preparing your home for the market or just preparing your home in general, these top 5 " Getting Your Home Ready For Spring & Summer " things to do should be on everyone's check list.

Preparing Your Home For Summer and Spring in Lake Arrowhead

Preparing The Outside of Your Home :  Let's face it, fall & winter can be brutal. With snow, ice, falling leaves and blowing debris our homes become home for all of these things. Our gutters fill up, snow sits on our roof, ice dangles from the edge of our roof, our gutters become a catch all. With spring showers arriving soon it is extremely important we check and correct any damage to our roof and siding, so that water cannot intrude. Making sure your gutters are clear allows the water to flow freely rather than collecting from debris that may block it.

Windows, Doors and Window Screens -  Soon, it will be that time where we can open our windows and enjoy some fresh air. During the winter dust, dirt, and sometimes even nests of bugs can invade the corners of our windows and doors. Sometimes, debris from storms where high winds accompanied can leave small tears in our screens. It is important to really clean out the window sills, checks for small punctures in screens and clean well above our doorways. When the warmer weather appears all these little bugs like ants and spiders will come as alive as we are and we don't want them invading our homes A good pressure cleaning to the outside of the home will help eliminate any unwanted bugs.

How to Spring Clean Your Home Properly

Garages, Sheds, Walk Ways -  Let's face it ... tools and lawn equipment are put away for the winter with no intention of use until spring and summer arrive. Shrubs are more than likely over grown and landscaping, although beautiful the majority of the year, probably looks like it hasn't been attended to in years rather than just the couple short months it wasn't. As spring approaches this is a great time to ensure our lawn equipment is serviced and up and running. Our tools should be made handy for any landscaping projects or even home project. Shrubs and other landscaping should be clear of walkways. This is a great time to clear out the clutter and organize the sheds and garages for all the summer toys like kayaks, surf & paddle boards, water tubes and outside games.

Outdoor Furniture, Playhouses, Swing Sets and Grills - Clean, clean, clean. The best part of spring and summer and is sitting outside roasting marshmallows, BBQ'ing with friends and family and relaxing. Cleaning the grill and outside furniture prepares your outdoor oasis for spring and summer fun and steaks galore.  Be sure to check your propane and always have an extra on stand by ! Also, be sure to check any play equipment meant for the kids. Check for rusted nails and ensure all equipment is operable. Playhouses that are enclosed should be checked thoroughly for any " critters " that could have made a home during the winter.

Inside Your Home - This is a great time of year to declutter, dust off those knick knacks and brighten up your space. This year Pantone released their color of the year as Ultra Violet. A beautiful shade of purple that works well with colors like aqua or baby blue. Right down to pinks, cool limes, ivory and gray. You can easily accessorize your tables, curtains, throw rugs and more with these colors to freshen up your space and add splashes of color without over doing it.
