Renter Do's

  • Show the property manager or owner you are qualified to rent the home by bringing proof of ability to pay rent. Pay-stubs, bank statements ect.
  • Bring a copy of your credit report and discuss issues ahead of time.
  • Dress nice and have your car cleaned, managers want to know the home is going to be taken care of. All applicants should try and make the appointment.
  • Pets, if you have pets bring them with you or at least a picture of the pets, show they are fixed and licensed and up to date on shots. 
  • Be on time to the showing of the apartment or the home this shows responsibility.
  • Show the property manager how much you love the house .
  • Show pictures of the current house you are living at so they can see how clean you are. 
  • Show you have the deposit and 1st months rent and are ready to move in now.

Renters Don'ts

  • Do not talk bad about your old landlord, this will send a red flag up. 
  • Do not show up in an old dirty car and dirty clothing.
  • Do not be late for the showing
  • Do not talk about your x husband or girlfriend, no one wants problems.
  • Do not smoke at the house
  • Do not under any circumstances give cash or money without knowing who the correct owner is? Make sure you meet the property manager or owner in person!! Make sure the rental agreement is signed and all amounts are correct. 
  • Do not pressure the Landlord or Property Manager before you even submit an application.

Last is why not know all your options, you may be able to buy a home even if you  have bad credit but have money to put down, I help lots of renters turn into home owners, even if you make minimum wage you can buy in another area maybe not San Diego but Hemet Ca, AZ, Oregon and NM, their are lots of options but you sometimes need to make sacrifices.  I know many owners that will lend or carry the loan for long term and you don't need to get a bank involved. Team Mary and Ash I have seen several blog with the Do's & Don't's of purchasing a home but this is the first one I have seen with the Do's & Don't's of renting a home.
