The Village Kitchen and Pie Shoppe in Carlsbad
The popular family owned Village Kitchen and Pie Shoppe in Carlsbad has a 20+ year history, founded in 1994.
The retro style eatery serves breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 days per week. Their pie shoppe has about 2 dozen different pies to buy – cream pies, fruit pies and others like pecan and custard - by the slice or by the whole pie (personally I recommend getting a whole one if you are taking out – why stop at 1 slice?!).
You can dine at a table, indoors or on the patio, or enjoy counter service; hours are 7 am until 9 pm Monday through Saturday, and 7 am to 8 pm on Sunday.
I don’t really have a favorite pie yet since I haven’t tried them all, but the strawberry rhubarb we had last night, with vanilla ice cream, was pretty darn good. Guess I will have to keep taste testing!
The Village Kitchen and Pie Shoppe, despite its name, is not located in Carlsbad Village but is at 950 Tamarack Avenue, at the corner of Pio Pico right by the I-5 freeway and across the street from the VONS Grocery Store! Contact them at (760) 729-6414.
And the Village Kitchen and Pie Shoppe was even featured in the March/April edition of Carlsbad Magazine.
I have to share that I thought immediately of ActiveRain friend Michael Jacobs when I wrote this post. Those in the know don't need an explanation.
