With mobile ordering apps such as DoorDash and UberEats, food options are plentiful when it comes to delivery services. In fact, delivery sales have grown 20 percent over the past five years causing more restaurants to offer this as an alternative to dining in.
Given technology, consumers are trending towards staying in the comfort of their own home versus going out to grab a meal. In San Diego alone, Door Dash has expanded its service from serving 500 to over 3,500 restaurants.
A potential drawback for restaurants with these mobile ordering app is the steep commission charged, sometimes as much as 30%. However, even with the commission, many restaurants have found success in introducing new food items to consumers in the area.
