You Have Caught Our Brokers Eye Leads

Real Estate Agent with Re/Max Eastern inc.

 attention you are special

I received a recruiting phone call from an agent . He was calling for a broker   This broker was calling me every year . Personally I really do not know why this broker was calling me . I very politely thanked this broker for their interest in me but told them I had no desire to leave my current brokerage and would appreciate the calls stopping .

I explained I was very happy where I am   They started to say how they would be giving me leads and I could make more money . I stopped the conversation right there and said look I do not want to be rude but I have no interest in joining your company.

The calls had stopped for a few years . The other day I received a call from an agent telling me the broker wanted to have coffee with me this week . I was lucky and have caught their eye . I asked the agent why are you calling me ti invite me to have coffee with someone else   He said his broker was  too busy and asked him to give me a call .

I responded with I was also busy and was sorry I must decline . He then persisted to inform how fortunate I was to be invited to have coffee with his broker and should make the time . I told hime to take me off his list  had no intentions of leaving where I was politely said "goodbye "

If you are looking to recruit someone do it yourself and to be honest lunch is much more impressive then coffee.  How many times do you get calls from other brokerages to leave your current office . Do you find them annoying ?  I do especially when they are not solicited . I can understand if you have a deal with the  broker or have approached them  but just out of the blue I think is really rude and pushy .  I sometimes question the ethics of these tactics .

What is your opinion ?

AS the Broker I would never have someone make those calls for me

It is easy to be annoyed when we are happy with the brokerage we are currently with.  Having someone other than the broker themselves call, and enticing with leads, seems a little off to me.

Hello Hannah --- maybe...however I doubt it---these kind of calls/contacts will cease.  As much as it can be annoying,  it's a part of the current real estate environment.

Hannah, goodness, they don't give up do they?  They must want you very badly.   BUT, wonder why they keep trying when you keep saying NO!

Good morning Hannah. The reality is probably that if an agent scores a new hire we will benefit financially. That said, I agree and it is annoying.

We repeatedly received calls from a recruiter who worked for the Broker. He kept saying the Broker has seen us on the web and wants to meet with us. Found out that this "recruiter" received funds for every new recruit he was able to schedule appointments for. We did meet with the Broker!

I have gotten calls in the past and most were to ask me to come be their broker. It is flattering at first but if it persists for years I can see it would be annoying.

Hi Hannah.  I think you should arrange for a lunch at the most expensive restaurant in town and after lunch, you can say no to this broker.

Hannah, it is good for the ego when we get these recruiting calls and my reaction is the same as yours... on a side note when a certain company did not have an office in Los Angeles the new Broker invited me and another agent to have lunch at a hip cool and trendy Sunset Strip restaurant.... then a couple years later the company had already a  foothold on the Sunset Strip and he invited me to Austin TX for "family reunion" where there were thousands from all over the country...he put me up at the Four Seasons next to the spite of the Royal Treatment I stayed with my old company..Endre

I guess we all are getting calls. In general what surprises me is that when you say "Thank you, I am not interested", they become pushy and try to tell me that I am a moron for saying it. Which part of "No" don't they understand.

On the other hand, the idea of talking and having lunch for some reason is very uncomfortable for me. When I had to do it, I have just water, and boy, how uncomfortable these meetings were.

Jon Zolsky, Daytona Beach, FL The world of Real Estate is very small I stopped in to see a broker i worked for many years ago . I wated her opinion  for my daughter I thought she could help me with as our grandchildren went to the same school and were friends .It was about a Birthday party purely personal . My present broker knew I was at her office and thought i was jumping ship ...... When I told him he smiled I do not have coffee or lunch when I am not interested .eyes are watching and lips are moving

I find it annoying when the broker hires someone else to make  those calls!  I never mind having coffee or lunch with someone to hear about other brokerages - when I have time for those conversations - but I am not interested in switching either
