Since August 2015, every week I have interviewed someone interesting in the real estate world for my podcast, The Real Estate Sessions. I have interviewed over 135 people from CEO's of start-ups and national associations to up and comers in the industry doing things in new and unique ways.
What started as a challenge to learn how to podcast and produce a couple episodes, has now become a passion project that connects me with smart, innovative and dedicated professionals throughout the industry.
The premise is simple. Get the backstory from each of my guests. Very few (3 out of 137) guests knew at a young age real estate would be their career of choice. So what was the trigger in their lives that opened the door to real estate?
I find these stories fascinating. That is how my podcast helps me. Doing pre-show research and conducting the interview and finding out that Chelsea Peitz (The Agent Marketer) considered becoming a nun or that Mike Schneider (CEO First.io) grew up in Austria playing baseball at a high level satisfies my curiosity about people's stories. I also develop relationships that last far beyond the creation of the episode. I have a network throughout the industry I can call on or refer others to for answers.
Are you getting the story of your customers? Are you creating content that answers questions others are asking? Perhaps producing a podcast can work for you too.
