I totally agree with your philosphy towards public persona.

Hi Endre,
This is why it is so important to understand EVERYTHING we put online is out there for anyone to see... and make judgments and decisions accordingly.

Good morning, Endre. We have two ears and one mouth for a reason...yet another reason why your post made me think of that familiar saying.

Hi Endre... I check my on-line profiles regularly, but certainly not daily. I actually also maintain my personal persona as privately as possible... but I think people always can tell alot about me from what I write about and how I write it.

Endre I think many of us 'regular' rainers feel as you do. You do an awesome job of mixing things up and making it interesting. I feel like I do know you for that very reason.

Such great points. So many topics are very socially charged these days and more than ever. Leaning on positions or opinions that do more to unite than divide is the trick, or craft worth practicing.

There are some subject that should not be broached with anyone but our closest friends. Religion, politics, and bias should never enter the business setting. Thank you for sharing.

Dear Endre,
When people ask me directly, I am honest about my political beliefs or religion, but neither are at the forefront of my repertoire of conversation. More interesting to find out, what clients need & want, so I can help them fulfill their needs.

Hi Endre
I like your philosophy and it resembles mine. There are also certain topics I just don't feel a need to spend time talking about in the public domain, even though I have my thoughts about them.
I also check my name regularly and also check potential clients, vendors and others.

Congratulations on your feature. Figuring out what to share in social media is a hard balance to strike for many people. You either get it or....

I wonder why mentioning religion or a political belief is usually described as "spewing dogma"? It's like a switch is flipped when some topics come up. I like red wine and you might like white wine. Can two people discuss their different preferences?
Do people see real estate agents who warn of the dangers of FSBO and such as spewing real estate dogma?

For my own benefit, I try to live with just one persona.
I have many strong beliefs and opinions that I try to keep in check and not come across with a bad attitude.
I am who I am.

Good morning Endre. I try to keep my private persona, private. I only try to do business when on-line.

HI Endre Barath, Jr. - Congrats on the gold star! Staying neutral is something everyone who has a vested inerest as a business person should do. I am actually amazed that a lot of people don't do it.
I add one step in the google process. I actually have it on my "Meet Sheri" page with a button "Google Sheri Sperry". In addition, I put "Google Sheri" (with the search 'Sheri Sperry" link in my signature area of my email.
I actually just closed on a luxury home with a top level I.S. person from a Silicon Valley Tech company who "googled" me and chose me for my website and content.

100% in agreement with your attitude about blogging and sharing our personal lives. Neutrality is a very good thing at times.

Agreed! And guess what? I don't know anyone who has changed someones' mind about politics, religion, or any other controversial topic. I'm an expert in real estate. I have my hobbies that hopefully will interest a buyer or seller and encourage them to call me. My differing political beliefs will not.

Endre, Your posting is the right mix, a reader get a sense of who you are, and what your business is. It is true, certain subjects should be avoided so as not to alienate potential clients.

Since these are troubling times and many people are seeking out like-minded people who share their core values, I don't mind sharing my progressive ethics and principles. Some people might see that as political, but those are the very people who would not get along with me anyway, so I still win.
This keeping silent in exchange for compensation is confusing to me.
As for your searching every day on Google, Endre, you know you can set up automatic Google alerts for whatever search terms you want, right? You can ask Google to send you reports on Endre Barath, Jr. as its own search term.
Oh, I couldn't agree more, Endre! I try to do that routinely as well because I've gotten great feedback from it! Funny but, I posted tonight that Ray & I were celebrating our anniversary at a restaurant in a community that I know quite well and have a few clients there also. A couple (past clients) popped in and had a drink, wishing us a happy anniversary on their way to an event this evening!
People want to know you and a 'stiff' persona who boasts about how 'great' they are in business just doesn't get it for me...or any consumer!
BTW, great wine in the shot! ![]()

Endre Barath, Jr. - I have that same delicate position here in Carmel-by-the-Sea with buyers and sellers from all over the world. Beyond telling people I have a daughter and two grandsons, I don't delve into my personal life. Clients like to hear that I am animal friendly, doesn't matter what kind. And, yes, I have 3 dogs who are very jealous when I go pet someone's cat.
