Most of the wisteria one sees in Santa Barbara is lavender. There is one place in town, at the La Cumbre Shopping Center, (home of Tiffany's, Williams Sonoma, etc), where you can find 10 foot colonnades of white wisteria adorning the columns.
The Chinese refer to wisteria as "chiao tang" which translates as beautiful vine. The Japanese named it Fuji! It has a light fragrance. We are told that the blooms also comes in pink, which we have not yet seen. One of our friends in Los Angeles has an harbor of purple wisteria over her outdoor dining table.
Wishing you all a very delightful Wednesday!
