What is the Best Door Knocking Outfit? (For Men)

By
Real Estate Technology with Zurple

So what is your door knocking outfit? Do you sacrifice comfort for style? Or have you found a fashionable compromise?

While we are not style experts, we do like to dress well here at the office...and here are some pieces of advice we have to offer.

Note: This is written by a male writer. I know about women's fashion, but have not tried it myself. I am also writing from my perspective, vs representing Zurple's view on how you should dress.

1. Headwear

It's okay to wear a hat in this context, despite hat's not being "professional attire". It is also recommended to always have eyewear to prevent eye damage from the sun. When choosing sunglasses, try to pick up a pair with polarized lenses. Also stay away from a pair that looks like you received them for free.

2. Shirts

Always have a collar! Some agents will wear a polo shirt with their logo embroidered over the chest. Some will wear long-sleeve button ups. Some will wear a suit jacket over everything. If you have a tailor, tailor your shirt! It completes the overall look.

3. Pants

You should also always have pants. (I hope this obvious) Shorts can work if you have the laid back personality to pull it off. Pants should fit and not be slouchy. Choose something classic like a good pair of slacks or jeans with no holes. Harem, joggers, jorts, capris, bell bottoms are nice and all...but keep those for your roller disco nights.

what are those

Here is where some of us will disagree. I know there will be some agents that choose to wear a button up shirt, slacks, and SNEAKERS. I say, if you are going to dress professional you should commit to the look. I would recommend the company ECCO for professional walking shoes. I've walked long distances in them while maintaining the style.

So what about you? What do you wear? Do you have shoes you recommend? And for you female Active Rainers, what is your regular attire for door knocking? Let us know in the comments below!

It is important to note one major component:  dress for your area!  There is a vast difference as to what is acceptable depending on where you are:  Formal Northeast, business casual South, relaxed beach town, 'western' Southwest.  Be sure to match and mirror the audience you are seeking.

Depends upon where you are. In Hawaii, shorts and a polo or aloha shirt are find for door knocking.
