"They say you can't buy happiness, but I can buy a new coat of paint for my house and that makes me happy, so I guess you can buy happiness afterall."
My house needs painting this year so I planned ahead and hired a painter back in February. It's not easy to find reliable subs in this area so I thought it was best to start searching early. Turns out I hired a guy from our church who has been moonlighting as a painter for about 20 years. His full time job is as a teacher.
I hired him for a couple reasons.
1) First, he's a nice guy and has a lot of grandkids to buy Christmas presents for.
2) Second, his quote was reasonable compared to others. I think this is because he works solo and doesn't have to pay ridiculous L&I insurance coverage on a crew.
He did the power washing on Wednesday evening. Thoroughly dry now, it's time to get on with the priming and painting... and it's a perfect day for it!
It may take him a little longer than a crew but I don't mind. I'm helping to support a local family.
