How was Earth Day 2018 for you?

Did Earth Day 2018 move you to any behavior modifications?

Earth day was started April 22, 1970.  Do you remember what you did on your first earth day?

We lived in the suburbs of Denver, Colorado in a town called Broomfield.  It was a real bedroom community with a Safeway store that was open on Sunday and one of the major reasons my parents moved there in 1959 as my mother was a teacher so it was important to be able to shop on the weekends.

This community was out in a field with no natural trees or creeks anywhere close.  My aunt worked in Downtown Denver and on the 1st earth day, April 22, 1970 she was given an ash tree seedling at her office to plant and start the greening of America.

Aunt Jane lived in an apartment so gave the tree to us.  We planted the twig in the front yard and it has grown the past 48 years to be a massive part of the character of the home which eventually our grand kids grew up with, tire swing and all.

Looking at the impact 48 years later has lead me to think about the 2018 Earth Day focus on the end of single use plastic products.

Did you know Earth Day is observed in 192 Countries around the world and more than a billion people participate each year?

As I watched athe video below by 4 Oceans, I was moved to purchase 10 Earth Day bracelets to share with 10 friends to pay the message forward of how important it is to make sure we properly dispose of trash and try to stop buying individual bottles of water and using plastic straws.

The bracelets I purchased are made from 1 pound of plastic removed from the ocean floor and surrounding beaches.

The $20.00 bracelet purchase goes back into helping the organization continue to clean up the environment.  You can help by purching a bracelet yourelf and sharing this video with others to bring about a change in consciousness about your actions with drinking water and using plastic straws.

The more I thought about how many plastic bottles of water I wasted and straws I used at resturants it made me think about making a change and sharing this passion with our friends and clients by purchasing stainless steel staws with our logo on the carry pouch. We are also going to purchase stainless steel water bottles to pay the message of  "reduce, reuse and recycle" forward with a gift. We have experienced great success with Through The Roof Promotions using Bob and Linda Roof to customize our marketing needs.

The individual carrying pouch with a stainless steel straw and a cleaning tool is an wonderful way to help others stop using plastic straws and reduce your carbon footprint.  When the recipient takes it out the conversation opens about why they are using it and a new person is talking about our environment.

Filling a water bottle before going out for the day is just a habit we can all adopt.  Making a plan to be prepared in all aspects of our lives makes us better all the way around.

This Earth Day has really made an impact on my thinking and am going to modify my behavior.  See you can teach "Vintage Players tm" new tricks!

Please help us with the final decision on color and style.

Which bottle to do you like best?  The purple bottle or the stainless bottle?

I'm sure I did whatever a brainwashed child did when they were first indoctrinated into the lie that man was destroying the earth Carra & Shae Riley . Today I believe in being a good steward of the world God gave us.  I did not know today was/is earth day until I read it here on AR about an hour ago. I celebrated by listening to Harry Nilsson's The Most Beautiful World In The World.

I did watch the video Carra & Shae Riley and NOT littering is one way that I practice being a good steward of what God has given us. Even as a youth I've never understood why so many people think nothing about littering. I wish litter laws were enforced but I've NEVER seen them enforced.

Bob what a great reminder of how to cherish our Universe by simply not leaving trash behind.  Maybe that would be a good platform to put out there on litter enforcement.  Thanks again for your comments.

Bob "RealMan" Timm  so glad you now know what Earth Day is as we celebrate the 48th year of it's beginnings.  I think that processing the concept of waste and land fills and how we can have less impact on waste by using products we can resuse make simple sense.  Thanks for your comment and hope you got to watch the video in the post... it's only about 2 minutes and speaks volumes on trash.  Thanks again for your comment.

I remember when my children were young they would come home from school around Earth Day each year with a tree to plant.  We had plenty of room to plant these trees, which we did as a family activity.   The kids would make a special trip out to see their trees several times a year.   I'm not sure if the school still does this or not.

Bob Crane  so great to read about your active participation in Earth Day!  What a great idea for the school.  Maybe all things old can become new... Will ponder this idea for our local schools!

Thanks for your comment!

Great info Carra, I do not remember what I did on my 1st Earth Day however, I try to carry my own water bottle everywhere I go. I also have reusable grocery bags in my car so I do not have to use plastic ones

I carry two canvas bags with handles in my car for when I shop. The cashiers and bagboys love it when I remove them from my basket. I used to fill up a box in my laundry room. Littering... now that's a different subject. I NEVER litter. As a child I saw signs on highways that said littering results in a fine. I learned from my parents that it was wrong. In my past, I have been known to run to a car in front of me at a traffic light to tell them they threw something out the window and they should go pick it up. I only got dirty looks! LOL
