Vegas Bob and I had been corresponding for a few years about real estate in the San Lorenzo Valley, which includes the small towns of Felton, Ben Lomond, Brookdale and Boulder Creek, hidden amongst the redwoods and along the San Lorenzo River. If you haven't been here before, we're just half an hour from the beaches of Santa Cruz to the west, and 45 minutes from the jobs of Silicon Valley to the east.
I've been living and working here since 2005, when I relocated to the Santa Cruz Mountains from Occidental in Sonoma County - also a gorgeous place with giant redwoods and near the Pacific coast. Before that, I lived all over the San Francisco Bay Area, including about 15 years in Marin County.
Since I love sharing the experience of living here in the mountains with people who are contemplating relocating, when Vegas Bob said he was going to be in town, I jumped at the opportunity to meet him! We had a great meeting and I got to show him some examples of homes here. His favorite was the one with a deck overlooking Boulder Creek - so refreshing and relaxing. I'd no idea he'd actually blog about his experience...and that he'd include so many photos of my favorite little town. Great to meet you Vegas Bob - hope someday we can call you Boulder Bob!
M.C. Dwyer shows homes to Vegas Bob in Boulder Creek CA
This afternoon Vegas Bob drove over to Boulder Creek from San Jose and met up with Mary Catherine Dwyer today, and it was quite a thrill.
Mary & I go way back at the ActiveRain network and she has been emailing me listings from Boulder Creek, Felton and Santa Cruz for many years now.
I have been to Santa Cruz many times, Felton a few but have never been to Boulder Creek California. After my visit to Boulder Creek all I can say is "wow what a beautiful place".
Here are some fun photos that I took in the town of Boulder Creek which is actually very small, 4-5 thousand residents give or take from what Mary said.
For anyone that has ever met me I usually start out with many questions about a certain, city or town just to get a better feel and facts straight about a certain area that I am not familiar with.
And Mary was quick with the answers of Boulder Creek, Felton and Santa Cruz. After all the questions then I cooled down a bit, and Mary had already picked out several homes to look at in my price range and area that I liked.
For anyone that has never been to Felton or Boulder Creek these little towns have so much character. They are small mountain towns in the middle of the redwoods and only 30-40 miles from the businesses in Silicon Valley around the Bay Area.
As some of you may know I have been working construction as a glazier (glass installer) in the Bay Area for 4 years now. I am either going to work at the new Google project coming up around the corner in Mountain View or go back to Las Vegas to work on Resorts World or the Raiders Stadium.
Both Google and Resorts World are suppose to light up around May of 2018 so which ever job starts first that will be the one I work at. My fate is in God's hands and if for some reason the doors open up first at the Google project I would really like to purchase a home in Boulder Creek or Felton.
And if my fate brings me to work at the Google project which is suppose to last 3-4 years then I would more than likely have Mary find me a home in Boulder Creek or Felton. I can't think of anyone more qualified in these areas then her and this post is for you Mary and I hope you like it ;o)
