2018 Chocolate Festival

San Diego Botanic Garden in Encinitas

designer chocolatesIt’s almost May which means it’s time for the San Diego Botanic Garden Chocolate Festival in Encinitas.

The 2018 festival will be held on Saturday May 12, 2018, the day before Mother‘s Day (notice how I slipped that little hint in!!) from 9 – 4:30.

You true chocoholics are thinking “wow, I could have chocolate for breakfast!!”

If you have any fondness for chocolate, how can you resist this event unless you are out of town? My wife and I attended with friends in the past, and it was amazing, and everything I could have hoped for!

You will be able to enjoy delicious tastings from numerous chocolate vendors (to name a few…Dallman Confections, Belgium Gourmet, Luisa Chocolatier, So Rich Chocolates, Yummy Cupcakes, David Bacco Chocolatier) with tasting tickets sold on-site at $1 per tasting ticket, with tastings typically requiring 1 – 3 tickets.

t-shirt about trufflesThere will also be a tasty chocolate fountain, multiple children’s activities, and 10 vendors offering a range of gift including items for Mother’s Day.

A chocolate demonstration will take place in the Eucalyptus Grove at 11 am - not on how to eat it, silly, you KNOW how to do that – on “Mastering the Art of Toffee with Creativity.”

So get it on your calendar and get ready to taste your way to chocolate heaven at the San Diego Botanic Garden Chocolate Festival in Encinitas on Saturday May 12, 2018!! I doubt you will regret it…unless you overindulge (is that even POSSIBLE with chocolate??!).

Admission is free for Members (and children 2 and under); $14 for Adults; Seniors, students, active military are $10, with children ages 3-12 at $8. Parking is $2 (free for members).

Hmm, chocolate chili...that's a new one but worth trying. Chocolate goes well with all sorts of tastes. I enjoy dark chocolate with red wine!!

Wish I could help you. I didn't buy this particular box and don't recall what the different flavors were, but they sure were pretty! Sounds like chocolate and raspberry is a favorite of yours!

OMG, OMG, Jeff! How could you do this to me? Now I'll be craving chocolate all day! If I didn't have to be in Fort Collins on that day to attend our grandson's graduation from CSU, I'd probably be making plans to come out to this chocolate festival (and trust me, it takes alot to get me to travel!).

The San Diego Botanic Garden is well worth a visit. It's huge with a broad range of different types of trees, bushes and flowers, and unique environments and representative gardens from around the world.

That's a good point Amanda Christiansen  It really was very artistic to look at, as well as to taste. Not TOO good looking to eat, but almost!

Dark chocolate is always a treat and it looks like a few partakers of the world's best drug helped lessen the bounty of the dish.

Hi Joe Pryor

They must have seen the recent report that dark chocolate is good for your brain. I'm on board with that!

Hi Jeff,   This sounds like the perfect event.  I am sure it will be very well attended.  If I were a little closer, I know I'd be there.  Thanks for sharing.

Hi Bob Crane

No doubt. We were there a few years ago and it was mobbed, although the crowds are limited due to parking capacity. It was great fun and VERY tassy.
