There are many different hats a Realtor wears throughout a home buying or selling transaction. These can include the hat of a marketing executive, salesperson, business analyst, advocate, negotiator, and often counselor.
And in the case of one agent: a crown.
That’s right. The reigning Miss Texas USA is also a RE/MAX agent.
I had the pleasure of interviewing Miss Texas, Logan Lester, not long ago.
What I found interesting is that many of the skills required to be a successful pageant contestant are also qualities that are important in the real estate industry.
Be genuinely friendly. People know when they’re in the presence of someone who truly likes other people and enjoys interacting on a personal level. Not only does it help build trust, but it also creates a more comfortable atmosphere. Being fake is simply not attractive.
There’s the social aspect. Not many real estate agents find success by sitting behind their desk all day. And not many wall-flowers get handed a bouquet of roses.
And, of course, in both real estate and on the runway, confidence is key. Agents and contestants alike cannot be shy about promoting themselves.
You can read the full interview with Logan Lester here. She offers some other pageantry traits that she has found can be applied to a successful real estate career. And she also talks about how important it is to have a team behind her who encourage and support her as she fulfills her duties as a title holder and her dreams.
