The Little Venetian Styled California Beach Town of Capitola

Real Estate Agent with GreatWest Realty DRE# 00827565

The quaint beach village of Capitola has always been among my favorite California beach communities. Taking my grandson, Baron, to experience it for his first time earlier this week, seemed extra special. I suspect it is the whimsical spirit imprinted by surfers and locals, who navigate the sands, the waters and the streets that provide any relaxed colorful vibe it has. The vivid hues also color tiny cottages near water’s edge, and add to ambiance beloved by so many!

For those visiting the California Coast between Carmel and Santa Cruz, I highly suggest seeking this little Venetian inspired village out.  It is blessed with wonderful little shops, and several delightful restaurants.  I remember a couple fun packed evenings in Margaritaville in the 1980s.

Capitola is a mere 6 or 7 miles south of Santa Cruz. For more information, you can visit:

HI Myrl Jeffcoat - WOW! Great shots and what a wonderful keepsake of Baron. Suitable for a pictureframe.  The clouds are amazing and look painted. There are no harsh shadows because of the overcast sky.  YOu captured this area perfectly! Kudos!

Hi Myrl: You must have run these photos through that paint program you use because all of your cloud photos appear enhanced. I should that program, LOL. Baron must be having a blast with you.

Did you guys go to Shadowbrook? The restaurant with the funicular?

Hi Myrl, we often went to Capitola in the summer, when we lived in Santa Clara. And I did remember Margaritaville, the photo shows it in the low season. Beautiful photos.

Hi Myrl,
Capitola sounds like the kind of town I would very much enjoy.  Looks like you and Baron are having a great time together.

Steffy Hristova - Yes, the beaches were vacant of sun worshipers.  It was easier finding parking though.  I also like the River Walk area of Capitola.  Quaint little houses along the inlet, and "The House that Jack Built."

Myrl, you reminded me about the parking, yes, that was hard to find then, I can imagine waht it would be now. "the House that Jack Built" is fun to tour, I am sure.
