The quaint beach village of Capitola has always been among my favorite California beach communities. Taking my grandson, Baron, to experience it for his first time earlier this week, seemed extra special. I suspect it is the whimsical spirit imprinted by surfers and locals, who navigate the sands, the waters and the streets that provide any relaxed colorful vibe it has. The vivid hues also color tiny cottages near water’s edge, and add to ambiance beloved by so many!
For those visiting the California Coast between Carmel and Santa Cruz, I highly suggest seeking this little Venetian inspired village out. It is blessed with wonderful little shops, and several delightful restaurants. I remember a couple fun packed evenings in Margaritaville in the 1980s.
Capitola is a mere 6 or 7 miles south of Santa Cruz. For more information, you can visit: https://www.capitolavillage.com
