Why Search For Alien Life on Distant Planets when it is HERE?

The California Monterey Peninsula has so many wonderful delights to experience. It would certainly be difficult to choose just one as a favorite. However, for young and old, The Monterey Bay Aquarium a few blocks from Monterey’s Fisherman’s Wharf has to be among top rankers. I have visited the aquarium four times, and it never seems to get old.

It has always been the Jelly Fish which have caught my imagination. Why is it we spend a gazillion dollars to explore for alien life on distant planets, when so much of it is already here?

Great pictures and I agree about finding alien life here, but how about finding intelligent life?

There was a traveling show for a while of the jellies, and we caught them in Monterey and also Seattle. The life in the dark ocean is fascinating.

Also, for those who care, here is a link to the Monterey Bay Jellies Webcam!

You captured really GREAT photos, Myrl. I often got the glare of the glass on my iPhone. Did you go through that exhibit with the huge glass arch of jellies, so they are all swimming and blooming, whatever you call that motion, over your head?

Hi Myrl Jeffcoat - Keep your pics coming!  These are fabulous shots. I know from experience how photos like this have to be set up. Lighting and movement take a skillful artist to capture. I have seen this exhibit at the Monterey Aquarium. One of my favorite aquariums to visit.

Myrl Jeffcoat - Your photos are captivating and you raise a really good point. For a reasonable admission and not having to pack a suitcase or wear a bulky suit, one can spend the afternoon enjoying alien life on earth!
