Hymen Lipman

Managing Real Estate Broker with Fathom Realty AR LLC PB00068179

Hymen Lipman was born in Kingston, Jamaica. He emigrated to the United States arriving in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania around 1829. That’s about all I can tell you except for or course the rest of the story. Around 1840, he became the leading stationer in the Philadelphia area.

In 1843, he opened the first U.S. envelope company in Philadelphia. He died in 1893 at 76. What you may not know about Hymen is that in 1858 he received a patent (U.S. Patent 19,783). That patent was for his invention of the first pencil with an attached eraser. Until tomorrow keep a smile on your face and a penny in your pocket.

Good morning James. Hymen made a point, you need an eraser! By the way don't get the golf trivia question wrong today or you won't get another! Enjoy your day!

Good morning James,

I can remember buying the larger erasers as the one on the pencil did not last long enough for all the mistakes I made!

Make yourself an astonishing day.

That invention seems so simple now but if you ever looked for an eraser when you need one and  it's at the end of your pencil. That is a great invention James Dray
