Bar hopping can be lots of fun, and Rockaway Beach has lots of bars to enjoy. A Taste of Rockaway brings together a way of introducing you to the restaurants and the bars along the Jamaica Bay shore as well as the Rockaway Beach area.
Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 12:00- 6:00 PM the Rockaway Union, an organization that was developed in 2015 began this event to introduce people to the bars and restaurants in the neighborhood, it is called, "A Taste of Rockaway." The neighborhood came out to enjoy, twenty-eight different businesses. Tickets for the event were sold at a restaurant called Thai Rock for $15.00. All of the restaurants gave samples of their cuisine to the various travelers who visited their establishment.
A number of the restaurants that I visited during this event were, Thai Rock, Bungalow Tavern, Whit's End, The Rock, and Sayra's Wine Bar. Each restaurant was packed with people enjoying the food. I especially enjoyed Whit's End. The food is prepared by the owner, Chef Whitney Aycock, he has a caribbean style of cooking. I enjoyed each restaurant from all of these establishments.
The event was fast paced and fun. A wonderful sunny day that was action packed, lots of friendly people enjoying themselves along the Rockaway Beach peninsula.
