Channel Islands Safe Boating Expo 2018
The Red Cross, Channel Islands Harbor Patrol, Oxnard Police, National Park, Fire Department, and, of course, the US Coast Guard (among others) plan on setting up informational booths at the Channel Islands Safe Boating Expo 2018. While you're there, take a tour of first responder vehicles, including the 87 foot USCG cutter. To take a tour of the Coast Guard's vessel, guests must reserve a time slot first. To do so, visit the Safe Boating Expo website here. Make sure you and your party arrive at the Training Room 30 minutes before your scheduled tour time to check in.
Bring your own watercraft and let the Coast Guard inspect it to make sure it's up to snuff for safety. First responders from various local departments lead live safety demonstrations throughout the day as well. The information they provide is priceless but you get it absolutely free of charge!
Have you or your family members outgrown their safety jackets? Are your boat flares past their "best to use by" date? Swap out old life vests for new ones (while supplies last). Drop off old flares and receive a discount on the purchase of new ones. Safety always comes first!
Get ready for all your summer boating activities now. Visit the Channel Islands Safe Boating Expo 2018 with your entire family.
