Just ...."Google It"

Technology is wonderful but it can stick a pin in the slowly deflating balloon of customer service.  Today I saw something I've never seen before (and I've been selling real estate A LONG time) and it qualifies the agent for my "Lazy Agent of the Week Award".

On a listing printout, in the space marked "Driving Directions", the listing agent had typed in 2 words.  "Google it". 

Seriously? How about YOU GOOGLE it, Mr. Agent and then type the directions in the box provided.

Here's the thing...first, it screams "Lazy Agent" but if you don't care about public appearances then how about this~

Maybe you don't know that there's a psychology about the way you bring a buyer to a property.  How about providing directions that take the buyer through a beautiful main entrance instead of the back entrance, or provide directions that avoid driving by the town dump a block away? 

I know, I know.  Most agents are using GPS and we're not paying any attention to the driving directions anyway.  BUT...there are a lot of buyers who are.

Imagine the frustration that a buyer or agent will feel when they take their stack of listings and notice once they're on the road that they should have "Googled it".  I think Lazy Agent's listing may just end up crumpled on the floor of the car.  So, Lazy Agent, you're not doing your seller any favors either.

I think if you're going to ask everyone to Google the directions...why not just leave out all the photos and detailed information and type in..."go see the house and you'll know what's inside."  I suppose I'll see that next month.
