Saturday, May 12th is the annual food drive by US postal workers across the country. You may have gotten a plastic bag in your mailbox in the last week or two as a reminder to fill it with non perishable food items and place it at your mailbox on Saturday for the postal worker to pick up on their regular route.
This is an appeal that we partcipate in every year. We consider the varying needs of families served by this drive when we shop for our contribution. It may mean things like Hamburger or Tuna Helper, Canned pasta dishes, peanut butter, canned fruits and vegetables, pancake mix, cereal and the "usual" non perishable items that food pantries request in their collections. We also believe that going thru a rough patch doesn't mean not having a little "food fun" . We also include powdered drink mixes and popcorn. a cake mix and frosting ...after all celebrations need to happen regardless of the family budget.
We also include baby food in our bags of donations...cereal and jars for infant to toddlers to insure that they too benefit from this generous collection effort by postal employees.
This is the 26th year that the post office has held this drive annually the second Saturday in May. We urge you to be a part of the "Hunger Solution" in your community ....search your pantry, shop with these items in mind and be generous in your "gift of giving back" to people less fortunate.
Going to sleep....or getting thru a day being hungry is unimaginable...be part of the solution that makes this true for the people in your community who need a hand up at a difficult time.
This has been a public service post brought to you by Sally K. & David L. Hanson, Broker Associates with Keller Williams Realty honored to serve Southeastern Wisconsin for all things real estate.
