"Golf is the closest game to the game we call life. You can get bad breaks from good shots and you can get good breaks from bad shots. But, you have to play the ball where it lies."
-Bobby Jones
Yesterday I had the opportunity to play in the 47th Golden Apple Invitational Golf Tournament at Three Lakes Public Golf Course. This is an annual event hosted by the 18-Hole Ladies League that I belong to. This is an event we host each year to raise money for local charities.
My game didn't start off so good. I had a double bogey on the first hole, and as the game went on several putts lipped out and I remember thinking "Ok, it's going to be one of THOSE days." No big deal. We always have a good lunch to look forward to.
The thing about golf is: things can go from bad to good... even great... in a single shot. The reverse is true, too. The point is EVERY shot counts. Just because you made a bad shot doesn't mean the next one won't be a good one.
As the day went on, I played well even getting two seriously amazing chip-ins and making some excellent putts.
At the end of the day, I won 1st Gross, a closest to the pin prize, AND long drive for the day.
My golf game yesterday was like life and business in so many ways. Don't ever get discouraged because things don't go the way you think they should or the way you want them to. You always have the next decision (or shot) to get back on track. Stay focused on your goal. You've probably heard it before and I'll say it again, most things in life and business are more like a marathon than a sprint.
Don't get discouraged and keep trying.
Thanks, Roy Kelley .
Have a great weekend!

Hi Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®,CRS, . Golf is a goofy game where either disaster or magic could be just a shot away.
Unfortunately, many have chosen to be spectators in their journey of life and choose not to participate in many worthwhile activities or opportunities, so regardless if it's golf or another activity, they always fail, don't they? You can't score if you don't play. All the best to your continued success.

Thanks, Debe Maxwell, CRS . We will have no shortage of Challenges in the future. You came up with the perfect kickstart to our dry spell.

Hi Sally K. & David L. Hanson ,
I've played the game with 3 clubs and a putter but never ONE club for the entire game. I would choose my 6-iron if I had to do that.
Very nice analogy Carol - and great example of finding inspiration for our personal and professional life. Not a golfer, but have respect for the game. D

Hi Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD ,
Much of golf, like life, is that 6 inches between our ears, isn't it?
I love the analogy Carol, I don't know anything about golf, except for what I hear on TV, never really tried it either, but I hear good things about golfing, a lot of business deals take place and a lot of people find peace too while golfing.

Hi Graziella Bruner ,
I do enjoy golfing and did quite a bit of business with those I met and played with on the course. There are many life lessons there, as well. You can learn a lot about a person from playing a round of golf with them.
