I hope all you mothers out there had an especially joyful Mother's Day. I spent yesterday morning with my son and his wife, along with one of my daughters and a granddaughter. We attended the fun packed Strawberry Festival in nearby Roseville. I hadn't realized the event would have a pirate theme, and it was such a joyful surprise to have dozens and dozens of pirates present when we went through the gates. Here in our city, we have our own raucous Pirates of Sacramento group, but pirate groups from as far away as Reno, Nevada were also present. In addition to jousting, and other medieval sports, there was a petting zoo, Where I spent special time petting Morticia, a super soft Taranchula.
There were also cooking demonstrations, and many pirate themed vendors selling their wares.
After leaving the event, we returned home, were we enjoyed Fresh Fried Fish, Rigatoni, Fresh Strawberries, Watermelon, and Chocolate Cake. And, there was a wonderful nap, afterward!
