Hoover's Cooking ~ "Foodie" Friday 5/18/18

Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker United Realtors® ~ 512.750.6899

It's going to be a warm week-end with plenty of sunshine and blue skies! Looking for a plain and simple restaurant to hit after some fun in the sun? I've got the perfect place to recommend to go for some Really Good Texas Cooking from a homegrown Texan, in a relaxed an causal atmosphere!

HOOVER'S COOKING           https://www.hooverscooking.com/

Hoover Alexander is a native Austinite and a 5th generation Texan.  He says he has always associated food with bringing people together and that's exactly what his restaurant does.  His relationship with area farmers allows his restaurant to bring fresh, local food to their tables each and every day.  Hoover learned from the ground up about the restaurant business - bussing tables, washing dishes, planning menus - all of it including managing a restaurant.  Finally, he launched his restaurant, Hoover's Cooking, that embodies his expertise: Southern, Tex-Mex, Cajun and BBQ.

Here's a sampling of what you'll find on his menu... on the Southern Pride menu - Charbroiled Catfish basted with a lemon wine sauce with either cajun or lemon pepper seasoning (your choice). On the Smokehouse menu - BBQ Chicken - fresh fryers rubbed in BBQ spices...Jamaican Jerk Chicken - some spicy heat and a touch of sweet before it's smoked and Jamaican Jerk Ribs - ribs with garlic and a special blend of 15 herbs and spices.  On the Sandwich Hut menu - New Orleans Muffuletta - ham, salami and swiss piled high on a sourdough bun dressed with olive oil and salad...the Bella Muffuletta - marinated, smoked and charbroiled Portabella mushroom topped with a feta and cream cheese spread, black olives, lettuce and tomato and the Red, White and Bleu Burger - a half pound smoked hamburger patty, topped with their Aus-Tex wing sauce, Monterey Jack and Bleu cheeses, lettuce and tomato served on a sweet kolache bun.  For dessert try a slice of homemade pie - buttermilk, chocolate cream, coconut buttermilk or some fresh fruit cobbler like apple, peach or blueberry.

Hear what Hoover has to say about his restaurant and what is important to him:

Good morning Dorie. Just located to a neighborhood filled with restaurants in downtown Chicago. Barbara Todaro would say avoid them all since they don't offer boiled chicken! Enjoy your day!
