Its called work for a reason Day 29 of 90 in a Realtors® life

Its called work for a reason Day 29 of 90 in a Realtors® life. Looking up the definition of work I find, fulfill duties regularly for wages or salary.  When you are being paid for an activity there is some expectation of effort, completion, skill and consistency.  I find the consistency the most difficult.  Knowing how to prospect is not actually prospecting each day.  The effort to be consistent with this work is the one thing I find that differentiates average from good and good from great.  No one has an innate ability to withstand all the rejection that comes from calling people you don't know to solicit from them information and an opportunity to serve.

Like banging you head against a wall, work feels good when it is over.  This is the wrong mindset. A better mindset is remembering all the positive outcomes from this heavy lifting. Remembering the family who allowed you to discuss their dilemma with them, how they permitted you to promote and market their property. How happy they were when you succeeded for them.  This is not easy but that is why it is called work, you are fulfilling a duty to yourself to make these calls and to see new properties and to talk to new people.

Struggle does not have to be a constant companion, and for me it often is. Letting go of the shackles of my own mindset is an outcome when I stick to the work. Stepping over the obstacles in my mind to embrace the flow of properties being bought and sold. They do this in an up market and a down market.  People get married, have children, change jobs, get divorced, die and all these life changes usually involve a change in their living situation.  The work of a successful agent is to talk to these people and assist them. That is the work and why Its called work for a reason Day 29 of 90 in a Realtors® life

Good morning Larry. I am often reminded of the phrase "the only place success is found before work is in the dictionary"! Enjoy your day!

Morning Larry.

I was a late bloomer, as a child I never had to work.  Once I did get started my life changed.  I like to work, unless for medical reasons, I don't plan to retire

James Dray Good for you James. I am of an age where many of my high school friends have already retired.  I love our business and am filled with joy when I help families find their homes, or sell their homes. Thanks for your comment
