Communications Bonanza Day 32 of 90 in a Realtors® life. Call, text, email, facebook, pinterest, instagram, snapchat, whatchamacallit and somethingelse today's means of communications is a bonanza and can be overwhelming. To be a good listener you need to understand how someone best communicates. We all know that face to face, in person conversation is the most direct and sometimes that is not possible. We all have our choices for what goes next, personally I don't like email. As an agent my contact information must be available to the public, this also means the marketers and that means lots and lots of spam. Text is going that way too and here is the thing. It doesn't matter what form of communication I like, it matters how best my clients prefer to communicate. I wasn't an early adopter of texting and one of my first clients would only text, he would not respond to phone messages, or emails. I learned, it took me a week or so.
Private messages and links to properties, or information, or contracts can go through electronic means as well although there are still some old school Banks and many attorneys who don't like methods like encrypted DotLoop or it's ilk. Again, it doesn't matter to the professional, use whatever method that works for the people you are working with and talk to. Being rigid is not a communications skill. Being careful to remember that Tweets and comments don't carry the true sense of your intention with them when posted perhaps push pause before hitting the return or post option
With so many ways to reach out and capture attention, communicate ideas, share thoughts prospecting for new clients should be easier. The key is how you use the system which, as indicated above, is often dictated by the people you are communicating with. There certainly is a Communications Bonanza Day 32 of 90 in a Realtors® life.
