The story of the bamboo tree

By
Mortgage and Lending with Liberty Home Mortgage Corporation Originator NMLS ID 120117

I heard the coolest story recently.

It’s the story of the Chinese Bamboo Tree.

In short, the bamboo seed lies dormant for 5 years and following 5 years of watering, sun and nurturing, it then grows 90 feet in 6 weeks!!

So here is the question and my point of posting about it – does the bamboo tree grow 90 feet in 6 weeks or 90 feet in 5 years??

The answer is obvious – 90 feet in 5 years. To the naked eye, it’s 90 feet in 6 weeks, but what the eye cannot see, is 5 years of watering, sunshine, nurturing and internal strengthening before sprouting.

What can we take away from the bamboo tree? Be patient. Firm up your base. Water your mind and spirit with positive thoughts and a healthy lifestyle. Smile. Start each day with a positive attitude and a positive outlook. Understand that nothing great ever happens overnight.

Try doing all of that for one year – two years – three years and then begin to watch what happens to the world around you.

For today and each day moving forward, let’s be patient, have a positive attitude and believe that greater days are ahead!!

Make the most of today everyone and have a great one!!

What a wonderful analogy. I didn't realize that's how a bamboo plant grows, nor that it grows so much/so fast once it starts growing. Thanks for sharing!

I first heard that story s few years ago and it is s great analogy. However, I don’t believe the seed lies “dormant “ for 5 years. I believe that the roots are growing and the base is being established.

Much like our businesses when we first start. Grow your “roots” establish your “base” and then when the time is right watch your own personal bamboo tree grow like a weed.

Thanks for the reminder!

Hi Khash- however long it took, the important point is that we grow every day in every way as long as we take the time to nurture ourselves and be patient.

Love this.  Nothing happens all of a sudden, or out of the blue.  We need to prep and care for ourselves, just like that bamboo tree does.
