Defining Professional 'Cooperative' Brokers

This past week, I had the distinct pleasure of closing on two transactions - one was a beautiful waterfront property in Longbranch WA, at the end of the Key Peninsula, and the other was a stunning Chaffey-built home here in Poulsbo WA.

In both instances, I had the good fortune of working with two highly professional brokers - AJ Million, with Gig Harbor Real Estate (for the Longbranch property), and Amy Janson, of Keller Williams West Sound (on the Poulsbo home).

One of the important roles in any real estate transaction is the agent/broker on the other side of the deal. Given the number of variables that exist, it's incredibly helpful to have another like-minded professional representing the other party, to ensure that the transaction goes as smoothly as possible. It's a lot like having a good dancing partner. You both follow the 'beat' of the contract timelines, move to the 'rhythm' of serving your clients, willingly trade-off taking the lead, and work at not stepping on anyone's toes!

It was clearly apparent with both brokers, that they were staunch advocates for their respective clients, working diligently at representing their best interests. But there was also a firm commitment in fostering meaningful cooperation between both parties, to ensure a 'Win-Win' for everyone involved.

One of the things I learned early on in my professional career (thanks to Ken Blanchard, author of "The One-Minute Manager") was the importance of catching someone doing something right. That is a principle which has always stuck with me over all the years.

So that's what I am doing here, catching two really excellent real estate brokers, doing things right, and letting people know about it!
