Memorial Day heralds the start of summer. Frankly it could not have happened too soon. Spring weather has taken a toll in mudslides, floods, hail and tornadoes across our beloved country. My family and I watched in horror at the devastation-that hollow look of our neighbors across the country as the media shoved their cameras into their faces moments after these storms hit their communites. Faith tested, most told the invasive eye at least their lives were spared as they stumbled on debris that were once their homes.
To those who have been affected by these devastating events, our prayers from our New Hampshire towns go to you-along with our donations to places like the Red Cross and various Church groups. As for me, on this Memorial Day weekend, your inspiration of courage and faith are reminiscent of those who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
Let us remember the sacrifices of home and around the world for our way of life, and the spirit which gives us hope even in our darkest moments.
Mary
