As most of you know we recently moved. I've been promising to share some before and after photos of all the work we have been doing on our new home.
Today I will start with the kitchen.
The kitchen showed well at the open house...not the colors I would choose...but appealing to most potential buyers. Very spacious with lots of cabinets.
I knew if we purchased the house we would be replacing all appliances...they were 13 years old and in poor condition.
I knew the backsplash had to go...far too busy and trendy for me.
More importantly, it was not actual tile. It was poorly applied, stick-on fake stuff.
The counter tops weren't great...but I thought maybe I could live with them for awhile.
I really wanted a white kitchen, so I figured the cabinets would need painting.
The day we closed on the house my first job was peeling off the fake tile.
Most of it came off very easily, but in some spots the sheetrock pulled off with it.
Imagine my surprise to find curtain rod brackets under the "tile".
The "tile" was applied right over them.
My husband patched the wall, where needed, in anticipation for real tile.
We painted all remaining walls a beautiful gray, using Sherwin Williams color March Wind.
We purchased new stainless appliances.
Those of you who know me, won't be surprised at the next part...
It became obvious that living with the old counter top for "awhile" was not going to happen, and new granite (Tahitian Pearl) was installed.
We topped it off with white subway tile.
As for the cabinets...
We painted the cabinets in our previous home, and I NEVER want to do that again.
We really don't want to spend the money to have them professionally painted.
They are in excellent condition and, surprising as it may be, I've come to love them just as they are!
We are still looking for the right bar stools...
then our transformation will be complete!
