Fairgrounds Neighborhood New Orleans

Surrounding the Fair Grounds Race Course in Mid City, the Fairgrounds neighborhood is mostly residential, with the architecture dominated by raised cottages, shotguns, and townhouse style homes that sit on long, narrower lots.

Bordered by Bayou St. John, you'll find City Park, the New Orleans Museum of Art, and plenty of outdoor activities nearby.

Buyer beware, though! For 2 weekends each spring, the Fairgrounds neighborhood is inundated with both locals and tourists during Jazz Fest. If you don't have off street parking, you'll need to butter up that neighbor that does so you don't get stuck schlepping groceries from blocks away.

What do residents love about the neighborhood?

Diversity, walkability, neighbors, peaceful, charm, welcoming. These are all the words that residents use to describe their little slice of New Orleans.

Each New Orleans neighborhood has that special thing that marks them, the Fairgrounds has Jazzfest. One of the most comprehensive and vibrant celebrations of music and culture. It lights up this neighborhood for the world to see. Our community joins in and melts into the party, the joy, and the celebration. But when the music is done, and the vendors have all packed up, we here in the fairgrounds continue that magical community. Good Morning, Good Evening, Good Night, are always our salutations to one another over here. Old meets new and the lines are just blurred in the now. The neighborhood is an eclectic mix of people, homes, and cultures. A New Orleans gem. Situated in one of the most convenient areas of town, you are just minutes from City Park, the French Quarter, Bayou St. John, and all the main arteries that can get you just about anywhere in just 15 minutes. But coming home to the fairgrounds always has a sense of grounding, quiet, and connection. ~ AnnMarie A.
