You just never know who is looking for a home.  This morning I have a lawnmower repair man come to my home to tune up my Honda Mower.  He saw some of the real estate signs in my garage and I asked him if he works out of his pickup all the time.  He rents a house and goes to people homes to fix lawnmowers and snow blowers.

After a little talking I ask if he wanted to put his information in my door hangers that we will be starting to deliver next week.  He was all for it to get his company name out.

Next we started talking why he was renting at today low interest rates.  He said his girlfriend has over $30,000 saved up and she would be a first time home owner.  I great him my card (more then 10) and said talk to his girl friend, with in 6 hours she called and if going to talk to my lender.

It pays to tell people what business we are in!

Will, I see the gremlins are at work again. You're right, we can't be secret agents. Always have to talk with people and let them know what we do. I find a lot of times we can help them with their business too and it's a win win.

Will, this is so easy to do and I do it all the time.  I feel I am in a position where I have important information and I believe in sharing it and helping others.  Just the way you wrote it is exactly the outcome I get.  At all times and in every situation I can, I wear my REALTOR badge and uniform (if there is one)...best for me is going to the Mall, grocery shopping, just anywhere...be like a walking and if possible -without offending or being a bother - a talking machine.... an advertisement.  Doesn't cost me a cent and I have met many people this way... some turned into clients, some into friends.  Hahaha.
