Are You A Jack of All Trades, & Master of None?

Services for Real Estate Pros with Napa Consultants

The NUMBER ONE mistake that luxury real estate marketing professionals make is trying to be all things to all people.  We understand that it is challenging to narrow your focus and concentrate on just one niche.   The trick is discovering the right niche for you, the one that has the potential to provide the financial return you want if you were to give it your 100% undivided attention.

Number One Narketing Mistake from The Language of Luxury on Vimeo.

Watch this 2-minute video and learn how being a Jack-of-All-Trades is the biggest marketing mistake. Being a generalist vs. a specialist is the most common marketing trap.

ABOUT:  Luxury Real Estate is a high stakes game. Commissions are substantial! We help luxury real estate professionals get to the listing table more often and win listings more frequently.  If you want to be the market leader, the personal or company brand that your target market thinks of first and refers most often, you need an Elevator Statement to accelerate the process.  We can get you there!

Your Elevator Statement is a succinct and persuasive summary of your extraordinary promise of value, your unique selling proposition.  In a time-starved world the attention span of your target market is shrinking.  To instantly convey what sets you apart from the crowd you need to be able to answer EACH ONE of these 3 questions in less than 30 seconds.: 1) What Do You Do?; 2)  How Do You Do It?, and;  3) How Are You Different?.  Can you state how you are different and better than your competition in less than 30 seconds?

Watch the video above to see and hear how we do it.

What a well done video. It clearly defined a niche and the concept was well illustrated with examples.

In real estate, there are so many who take the jack of all trades path and end up getting lost in the masses.

Thanks for sharing.

Years ago I went completely all in on investment real estate. I knew what I liked and what I didn't like and I wanted to be fully invested in time and knowledge. Not all markets are conducive to this but when I teach i tell even small town agents that they need to know something cold and be able to say no one is better.

Great video and even better information!  As a property stylist and stager, I am part of the team for a  numbe of different agents.  I always encourage the agents I meet to use a team of professionals to help them with things that are out of their area of expertise so they can  focus on what they do best-selling houses!  I find it is a challenge for some of them to let go of a little control, spend a few dollars and let us help them.  When you take a look at the most successful, most recognized and most specialized agents, they always have a team surrounding them to help.  Thanks for your great post and for the wise words!

In the beginning of my career, I handled to commercial transaction representing the buyers eventhough I wanted to refer them. Broker said you can do it. I needed the experience. I was so stressed with only 2 years in, maybe not that much. Moved onto another brokerage after couple years for other reasons but chose to refer. It just wasn't me. You always do better with what you know. Trying to be a "Jack of All Trades" can turn you into an absolute "Master of None" to the point you can't be a "Jack of just one"

Ron and Alexandra- in what seems like centuries ago, I was an agent for one year (mid-80s) I will never forget one of the last sales I had where I represented the buyer. The listing agent specialized in new home builders in a large community only. I remember thinking that if I were going to stay in real estate, I was going to specialize so that I would know everything I could about what I was selling.

I write about this topic every now and then, trying to convince agents that choosing a niche is the smart thing to do. So many are afraid that if they do, they'll "miss out" on business. I've written bios for new agents who want to say "their territory" is their entire state!

All we can do is keep saying it over again in hopes that we're helping a few to become successful.
