HOW WOULD YOU INFORM A BUYER OF THIS??

Hi Anna:  You are so right--it has begun to ruin the atmosphere here for the locals and those who chose to live here for the peace and quiet. My whole point in making this an issue is to point out to the Town that they are doing such a disservice that we will be facing even bigger problems than this kind of disruption...it is really not very comfortable to those of us who live here on  a year round basis....

Hi Margaret: Yes, and that is s obvious that it may be the way the whole place is heading anyway...sad if you ask me.

Hi Jane: I think it is a bigger issue than just people who want to party--there is a big divide between those who live quietly and enjoy a relatively carefree lifeand those who spend money like water and look to make life adjustments for all of those around them! I see it in my own family! There is a generation gap that I have never seen before...

Hi Susan: Money is the only thing that could make this kind of thing ok--If you pay enough you will get what you want, no matter who has to suffer! I don't know for a fact that this is what happened in this instance--But the idea that there are more people now who DON"T know about the real Hamptons and the way a private, peaceful life is revered here is mind numbing to me...Why choose to come here to do your dirty deeds? Why not stay in the city where anonymity is king--you can do anything there and get away with it! No, those who flaunt their party lifestyle in the face of the quiet neighbor do it to get seen and known...publicity and there are more than enough marketing mumb-nuts who will cover those parties and "sell" the idea to others. If you recall the Lizzy Grubman incident in 1999 (or about then) then you may also know that she ran over 9 people at Conscience Point night club---that is actually the place where the first settlers came ashore in 1640 to settle Long Island. No One mentioned that at the time so not many know the truth.

Hi James: Right you are---and when the party crowd discovered the Hamptons in the mid-2000's it was all over but the shouting (no pun intended) The marketing crowd picked up on it and started advertising the party atmosphere that could be found here--it spread like wild fire...Now we have a whole new demographic who has no respect for the history or the local population. Thanks for commenting... 

Hi Patricia: I keep hoping for a moment of awaremness on the part of the public--those who care and those who can do something to make others aware of the trend to"Party Town"--It may take a while but i do believe that there are enough to make a difference. We, as real estate professionals need to stop promoting the idea of the party lifestyle here--It never was that way before; why should it be that way now??? People grow up and maybe that is what it will take; meanwhile where does it leave the Hamptons and it's history?

Hi Laura: Sorry I didn't get a notice of your comment here but thanks for reading and commenting! This summer iis an absolute zoo but I am having all kinds of people calling me for full summer rentals--that is starting to happen againg so that tells me that the long weekend thing is slowing down a bit, both on the part of the tenants and the owners. 

Hi Pat: Good and wise advise! I saw that Seinfeld episode too and it was so funny....The madness has slowed a bit and the homeowners who used to do Air B&B has slowed a bit too so that is all good. I did more July and August rentals this year than I have done in a long time---all in the last 3 weeks, after I wrote this post! Maybe they heard me?!
