Recently I read Ron and Alexandra Seigel blog post about a local chalk art festival and decided to check it out since i was visiting Santa Barbara with my kids the following weekend.
We are so glad we did! We loved it! Here are few our favorites:
My dog Fifi and her friend loved it too:) It was not crowded and not being on the leash was ok.
Why and what it is Madannari?
''Madonnari, or street painters, transform the Mission plaza using pastels on pavement to create 150 vibrant and colorful, large scale images. We are proud to be the first to bring this romantic festival to the western hemisphere from our sister festival in Grazie di Curtatone, Italy. The festival benefits the Children's Creative Project, a nonprofit arts education program of the Santa Barbara County Education Office. The Project serves 50,000 children in more than 100 schools with visual and performing arts workshops and performances throughout Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties. " ~ from their website.
If you are in the area during the festival or even days later, it is #themust to attend! Free event, free parking, beautiful settings, amazing chalk art, and.... roses! Do visit a beautiful rose garden and the Old Mission:)
Thank you for visiting my blog! Living in CA is awesome. I love Los Angeles hoods but I also enjoy exploring other local communities. If you like this post, you might like another annual local event in Santa Barbara: Orchid Show. And stay turned for pictures of a beautiful rose garden and many more highlights of local communities!
