Summary on the sale of Ruby Tuesday, Inc.:
Ruby Tuesday, based in Maryville, was sold to an Atlanta private equity firm for $146 million in December 2017. The equity firm~NRD Capital bought all Ruby Tuesday common stock for $2.40 per share in cash, and will take on debt obligations. The deal for Ruby Tuesday values the firm, including debt, at $335 million. The acquisition is expected to be complete in the first quarter of 2018.
NRD was founded in 2014 by Aziz Hashim, and specializes in businesses with franchise operations. Atlanta-based NRD has invested in two other restaurant franchises, Frisch's Restaurants Inc., which the firm acquired in a roughly $175 million take-private transaction in 2015, and Fuzzy's Taco Shop. NRD currently has 900 + locations with $1.5B combined annual systemwide revenues according to the NRD Capital website.
