Catch and Release? No Way!

Catch and Release? No Way!

My husband and I love to go fishing at Panguitch Lake. It has been our favorite spot for many years. A weekend spent in a rustic cabin suits our needs and allows us to unwind and enjoy being present together.

Packing a few meals early morning, we then set out to the water. Most of the daylight hours are spent on our pontoon boat, casting, baiting and catching. We have been known to do some night prospecting too!

Some people fish, catch, then release. Why go through all the preparation and planning to just let them go? Which reminds me of business. Are you in it to capture clients only to release them? Of course not!

We all work toward a successful end result. Catch and release? No way, not here, no how!

Wanda,

It is a matter of preference whether to catch and release...some people who fish do that, and some don't!

When it comes to our practice both in commercial real estate and now in branding and marketing, we release quite a few, because they are not a match to us.  Nothing wrong with them, just not for us.  A

Morning Wanda.

Back in my younger days, I went fishing on a weekly basis.  In the last 10-15 years I've only been once.  No, I do not catch and release.

Wanda-That is a nice size fish. I haven't fished in years but never threw any back when I did.

Not every potential buyer or seller get to the closing table and not everyone who fishes eats their catch, that is true Ron and Alexandra Seigel. My husband enjoys smoking fresh trout. It has the look and texture of smoked salmon, tastes amazing and is wonderful on bruschetta bread with cream cheese, red onion and capers.

If my husband had a choice, we's be on the lake every chance possible James Dray! Fishing is something we do together, much more often in past days as well.

If they are too small, we release them so they can continue to grow but all that were good size, we keep and eat Sharon Lee. Good to see you here!

That is one beautiful looking fish, one that would look great on my grill! There is nothing like fresh fish straight out of the lake or ocean. PS. I'm an ocean girl myself, especially off the coast of the Big Island of Hawaii in the past over on the Kona side, not the volcano side.

You live in paradise too Hella M. Rothwell, Broker/Realtor®! We enjoy all aspects of being on the water and the last time my husband was in Hawaii, he also went sea fishing. FUN times!

That's a nice one!

I haven't been fishing in a few years, but I'm going to spend Sunday cooking for my "boys" annual fishing trip to Montana. Both of our sons took a week off work and are coming to accompany their dad - who has been making lists and getting ready for the past month.

We aren't usually into catch and release either, but one time I went with my son to a lake where it was required. Barbless hooks only! We didn't go home with dinner, but catching one right after another made it fun anyway.

As for clients - there have been a few I did release - and a couple I should have released.

Your trip with family sounds amazing Marte Cliff! Part of the FUN of fishing is the excitement of a fish caught on the end of the line. And as for clients...yes, a few may not good prospects and must be let go!

Fishing is almost like working in the dirt- both are therapuetic and lower blood pressure!  Fishing as a kid I didn't like it at all, I was too wound up.  Today would be different.  Good for you for taking that much needed break!

We are avid gardeners and fisherpeople Jan Green. My dad liked to fish by himself and would ask me to come along some days. I'd sun bathe and read while he fished! A perfect combo back in the day.

I have no problem with people who fish and eat. That is good fresh food.

I have no problem with people who love to fish but are not into eating fish, so release them.

In real estate, we hook some people we really need to release. I have no problem with that.

Thanks for the post, loved the photo.

To each their own John Wiley. Yes, I have had to release a few clients due to inforseen circumstances or downright out of necessity. Thankfully, most are keepers!
