Word Wednesday: Tardis

By
Education & Training with U.S.: I specialize in helping agents who have been in the business 2 years or less create a thriving business.

"If you were given the use of the Tardis for one day where would you go?"

That was the question of the day on a writing site I frequent.

I've heard of Dr. Who but have never been into Sci-Fi or British shows so was never inclined to check it out.  After reading the question and doing a little research, I am intrigued.  I checked to see if it's on Netflix, but it is not:

For those of you, like me, who don't know what Dr. Who was about, according to Wikipedia:
"The programme depicts the adventures of a Time Lord called "the Doctor", an extraterrestrial being from the planet Gallifrey. The Doctor explores the universe in a time-travelling space ship called the TARDIS. Its exterior appears as a blue British police box, which was a common sight in Britain in 1963 when the series first aired."

Anyway, it got me to wondering where I would go if given the Tardis for a day.

Life is complicated. We have all lost people we loved, and things have happened that we wish hadn't. But, if you had to choose one time or place, where in the world would it be?

Through all the twists and turns in life, how do you chose?  I suppose for me, I would go way back to a time when both my parents were alive. That would be the mid-1950's There is so much I would love to know.

How about you?  Where would you go and what time period would you like to have a Second Chance at?   Would you try to change anything or just learn from the experience?

Good morning, Carol Williams I wouldn't change anything in my past....everything in my life happened for a reason, and it all resulted in a positive note....that's how I feel about the past and the present....

Carol What a great thought provoking post. If I could time travel I would love  to see my parents and grandparents as young people and spend the day talking to each of them.  Now if I could time travel to a time in my own life it would be to go back and give my 30 year self lessons about life if she had known what I know now.

Good morning Carol. This is so telling and poignant. I remember those times too, but now I look forward, mostly.

Ah! Doctor Who!
I'm not going back.
The good old days are Here and Now!
If I had to, though, I'd probably hit 1978 again . . .

Hi Barbara Todaro ,
My sentiments exactly.  It all leads us to where we are... where we are supposed to be, right?  It is kind of fun to imagine being able to speak to my parents again after over 55 years.

Hi Sheila Anderson ,
Living in the present and having things to look forward to makes our world go 'round, doesn't it?

I know exactly what day and time I would go back to, and I would change the decision I made on that day.   But since I can't, I will have to stop beating myself up for the decision I made!  At the time I believed that I had made the best decision for all involved, but now I look back and wish I had done things a little differently.

Well that's an interesting question. I wouldn't change anything but perhaps would go back to get some insight about people.

My favorite movies and tv shows are time travel related. LOVE the subject. Where and when would I go? So many different things come to mind if I had multiple chances, but if I could only choose one I'm not sure what I would do.

I've always said I would love to spend a day with my children when they were little but to see my grandparents who all died when I was a very young child would really be priceless.

Love this post!  I'd go back to a time to get to know my father better, when he was a young man! He's on the brain today as I just ordered my Ancestry.com kit to learn more about my heritage.  I'll have to write a post about it this fall! Thanks for a fun read and great question :)

I have come to realize that yesterday is past. We would all like to see things in the past changed, but that will not happen. So, I am content to make the most of today where I am.

Thanks for provoking our thoughts.
